Lacrosse Faces Richmond, George Washington This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA – The lacrosse team is ready for another weekend of Atlantic 10 play which begins when the squad travels to face Richmond on Friday before hosting George Washington on Sunday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium.

La Salle (9-3, 2-1) is off its best start in program history.  With four games remaining in the season, the Explorers are in a four-way tie for second place along with Duquesne, Temple and Richmond.

La Salle's most recent loss to Temple on Saturday had snapped a five-game winning streak.

Freshman Caitlyn Brostrand leads the Explorers with 27 goals on the season.  Senior Nora McGurkin has 29 draws on the season and currently sits third all-time in career draw controls at La Salle (116).

Goalkeeper Megan Corliss boasts a 9.64 goals against average.  In the most recent Division I statistics, Corliss was ranked fifth in save percentage (.511) and eighth in saves per game (10.0).

Scouting the Spiders (6-6, 2-1)

Richmond has won three of its last four games, with the loss coming against A-10 opponent UMass.

Freshman Emily Doyle was this week's A-10 Rookie of the Week after adding a goal and four assists in Richmond's lone game last week.  Junior Sam Stevenson is third in the league in goals per game with 2.83

Richmond adds 13.08 goals per game, tied with GW for third in the conference.

Scouting the Colonials (7-5, 1-2)

George Washington is coming off a tight 18-17 loss to Richmond its last time out.  Sarah Phillips added six goals for GW in the game.

The Colonials are tied with Richmond for third in the conference in goals per game with 13.08.  The Colonials also cause a league-leading 8.00 turnovers per game.
