PHILADELPHIA -
John McCarthy, who spent the summer playing for the Ocean City Nor'easters of the USL Premier Development League, was named to the Eastern Conference All-Conference Team, announced Monday by the United Soccer Leagues (USL).
McCarthy played 14 of 17 regular season games in goal, registering 67 saves and recording a .725 goals against average. He helped the squad to a 13-3 record as well as the Mid-Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference titles. The team finished with the third best record in the 73-team Premier Development League, including all conferences.
The squad clinched a playoff berth with a 1-0 win over Brooklyn before falling in the playoffs, 1-0, to Ottawa.
