Shoemaker's Goal Enough For 1-0 Win Over Robert Morris

Box Score
LYNCHBURG, Va. - Junior Olivia Shoemaker scored her third goal of the season in the 33rd minute and it proved to be the only offense that the La Salle field hockey team needed in a 1-0 neutral site victory over Robert Morris. The game was played on the campus of Liberty University.

"I thought today was the most consistent and complete game we have played to date," head coach Michelle Marks said. "We moved the ball well, played disciplined defense and competed for 70 minutes."

"I'm proud of the waywe played today and look forward to playing Liberty tomorrow," Marks continued.

Sophomore Lisa Shaffer made six saves for her second shutout of the season and fifth of her career. She is now tied for fifth on La Salle's all-time shutout list.

"Everyone played well together and overall we played our best game this season," Shaffer said. "We came out very hard and focused on the little things we needed to do to win."

La Salle (3-6) held a 17-9 advantage in shots and 6-5 lead in corners.

"Today we played La Salle hockey and we dominated the game and played as a team," Shoemaker said. "I'm very proud and ready to take this momentum into tomorrow's game."

Erin McKenzie made nine saves for Robert Morris (3-6).

The Explorers, which improve to 7-1 all-time versus RMU, remain on the road to play host Liberty on Sunday at 3 PM.
