WASHINGTON, D.C. - In its first meet of 2013, La Salle women's track and field was put to the test at the Hoya Spiked Shoe Invitational on Friday afternoon. Joining the Explorers were host Georgetown, Delaware State, and Temple. 

"Our girls had a solid opening meet," head coach Dan Ireland said. "We have some work to do but we have a strong foundation to build on."

Wendy Hutchinson nearly eclipsed a PR in the 1000m, clocking a 2:56.89, good for a seventh place finish in the event. Christa Strycharz paced all Explorer finishers in the one mile run, finishing fifth with a 5:16.97. Michelle Capozzi obliterated her PR by nearly 20 seconds in the 3000m, crossing the finish line 10:05.66. 

The Explorer will run again next weekend at the Penn State National. Others will compete at the Delaware Invitational.
