NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – La Salle men's cross country standouts Nico Greco, Zach Sullivan, and Vince Perozze have been named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team, the conference office announced Friday. La Salle was the only school to have three recipients on the list.
"To have half of the A-10 Academic All-Conference team be Explorers is tremendous," head coach Dan Ireland said. "It goes to show that our athletes are just as successful in classroom as they are on the race course." Â
Greco took home the individual title at the conference championships, crossing the finish line at 23:46.9 (8K). The junior's finish led the Explorers to their second A-10 title in three years and their ninth in program history. The A-10 Most Outstanding Performer put together a stellar regular season leading into A-10s, placing in the top-15 in every race in which he competed. He was named the conference's performer of the week on October 7 after finishing eighth (395-runner field) at the Paul Short Run. The Terryville, Conn. native carries a 3.60 GPA as a digital arts major.
Sullivan filed in right behind Greco at the A-10 Championships, finishing second with a 23:55.8. Like Greco, Sullivan placed in the top-15 in every race this fall and was named A-10 Performer of the Week on September 16 after coming in third at the Friends Big 5 Invitational. The Pasadena, Md. native posted a 3.49 GPA as a marketing major and is now pursuing his MBA.
Perozze finds his name on the academic all-conference list for the second straight year. He placed eighth at the conference championships, earning all-conference status with a 24:14.1. The Perkiomen valley product twice placed in the top-10 in regular season meets, highlighted by a sixth place finish at the Friends Big 5 Invitational on September 13. He carries a 3.72 GPA as an accounting major.Â
