TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Michelle Capozzi represented La Salle at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday afternoon at the Wabash Family Sports Center. The senior ran a 21:52.5 (6000 meter run), coming in 177th (253-runner field).

"Michelle ran a tough race today in very demanding conditions," head coach Dan Ireland said. "Her competing in the National Championships in her last collegiate race was a tribute to her hard work and dedication."

Capozzi was the only Atlantic 10 runner to receive an invitation to the championships after placing 17th (20:36, 6K) at the Mid-Atlantic Regional a week ago, good for an all-region finish. Two weeks prior, she clocked a 17:19.7 (5K) at the A-10 Championships, finishing seventh and earning all-conference status.

"For our program to have women competing at the NCAA's two years is a row is tremendous," Ireland said. "It is raising the level of success that is expected from the women on the cross country team. We continue to work toward our goal of having a team at the National Championships."

The Little Silver, N.J. native became the fourth Explorer to compete in the championships, joining Sheila Klick (2003), Rachel Papin (2005-07), and Meghan McGlinchey (2012).
