Columbia, MO - Gwenno Goode of the La Salle women's cross country team will race in the NCAA Championship meet Saturday, with the women's race set for 10:20 am. The meet will be televised on ESPNU.
Last Time Out
Goode last ran in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional meet last Friday. She placed 17th overall with a time of 20:01.4, and secured the final individual berth to ensure that she will qualify in the NCAA XC Championship meet for the second straight year. She also received All-Region honors for her strong performance in the race
Poised And Experienced
With her entry in this race, it will mark Goode's third appearance in a NCAA Championship meet. She made the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships last spring, running in the 3k steeple, in addition to running in last year's cross country nationals edition.
Her Season Recap
Goode has ran in four meets so far, and has been the La Salle women's first finisher in each of those meets. She placed third overall in the conference championship race, receiving All-Conference First Team honors for her finish. On Tuesday afternoon, the Atlantic 10 announced that Goode was named to the All-Academic team.
Aiming For All-American
In last year's race, Goode placed in the top 100, getting 99th place with a time of 20:31.4 in the 6k race. There were over 250 runners in the field, and Goode was at one point as high up as 55th place. She will aim to place in the top-40, as those runners will receive All-American honors.
Next Up
The cross country season concludes with this meet. Goode will shift over to the indoor track season following this race, which will begin in December or early January.
