KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the second consecutive year, senior
John McCarthy has been named an NSCAA Scholar All-American, the organization announced this week. The goalkeeper was named to the second team, like he was a year ago.
McCarthy enjoyed a standout senior campaign, being named first-team All-Atlantic 10 and A-10 All-Tournament. He led the A-10 and ranked sixth nationally in saves/game (6.11) and led the conference in save percentage (.823) and total saves (116).Â
The Cinnaminson, N.J. native ended his career as La Salle's all-time leaders among goalkeepers in saves (468), shutouts (28), and games played (75).Â
He was now twice been named to the NSCAA Scholar All-America squad and is a three-time Scholar All-Region selection. He was named Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area and A-10 Academic All-Conference last season as well. He carries a 3.36 GPA as an Integrated Science, Business & Technology major.
