HAVERFORD, Pa. – Senior Meghan McGlinchey didn't just break a school record on Saturday afternoon at the Jack Pyrah Invitational, she obliterated it. The West Deptford, N.J. native ran the 5K in 15:53.74, ousting Sheryl Reid's 1986 mark (16:21.10) by nearly 28 seconds.

McGlinchey had time to catch her breath as she watched the second place finisher cross the line at 17:26.10, 1:42 after she did. She is the first La Salle runner in history to break 16:00 for indoor or outdoor and is unofficially in the top-5 nationally in the event through the opening weekend. Her spectacular debut highlighted the day for the Explorer women who registered many top finishes.

"Meghan ran an awesome 5k today," head coach Dan Ireland said. "Her converted time should hopefully end up qualifying her for the Indoor NCAA Championships in March.  This is a great start to our women's indoor season."

Anne Areias was the second of four Explorers in the 5K, posting a fifth place finish of 18:04.44.

Shanice Johnson clocked an 8.25 in the 60-meter dash, coming in 11th in a 30-runner field. The time bested her previous indoor PR by 14 hundredths of a second.

Chelsea Harris came in second in the 800-meter run, notching a 2:25.13. Kate Conville placed sixth in the 13-runner event with a 2:29.72.

The Explorers showed strong in the one-mile run, boasting three of the top-seven finishers. Tori Pisco placed second with a career-best 5:08.49. Cayleigh Solano crossed the line fourth (5:14.70 ,PR) while Carolan DiFiore grabbed seventh (5:24.28, PR).

Freshman Amber Jackson notched the top Explorer leap in the long jump, placing sixth with a 5.24m. Shanice Johnson jumped a 5.15m. Johnson went on to tally a 10.18m in the triple jump, earning seventh. Both jumps were career bests.
