PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle men's cross country team earned All-Academic status from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced today. The Explorer men posted a 3.23 cumulative GPA in the fall to earn the distinction.

"I am very pleased that both our men's and women's cross country squads have earned All-Academic Team status again," head coach Dan Ireland said. "Our goal every year is to be the best student-athletes that we can be and this award is an acknowledgement of our hard work in the classroom."

Ireland's squad contained Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference choices Dan Day, Vince Perozze, and Alfredo Santana. Day was also named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team.

The program's 3.23 GPA was the fourth-highest mark in the conference and the highest of any A-10 program in Philadelphia. The team also had 14 members on the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll List.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.
