"It was awesome to see our entire team come out on fire from the first draw," Head Coach Candace Taglianetti Bossell said. "We are most proud of how our attack executed the game plan, and how our defense played so aggressive that they were able to hold LIU to 5 shots.
Our team mantra is to get better and better each day, and I think we accomplished that tonight."

The Explorers drew first blood just 19 seconds into the contest when McCabe scored her first of the evening. She followed up with another goal less than two minutes later. Andrews found the back of the net with 21:48 on the clock and Marasco scored her goal two minutes after that to give the Explorers an early 4-0 lead.

LIU got on the board at 17:47 on a Caitlin Farrell goal.

Neither team scored again until 9:45 when Brostrand scored three straight in a span of 1:43 to give the Explorers a 7-1 lead. Furman, McDermott and Roebuck rounded out the first half scoring as the squad took a 10-1 halftime lead.

McDermott opened scoring 56 seconds into the second half to give the Explorers the 10-goal differential, which they played with through the remainder of the game. Andrews followed up a minute later with her second goal of the night.

Allison Canfield broke up the Explorers' eight-goal run at the 21:58 mark, but the Explorers responded with three more straight (McCabe, Brostrand, Roebuck) to take a 15-2 lead with 17:14 remaining.

The Explorers dominated every stat category. They outshot the visitors 44-5 and owned a 24-7 advantage on ground balls. The Explorers also controlled 19 draws to just nine for LIU.

Maura Malone picked up the win in goal. Haber, who minded the LIU net in the first half, suffered the loss while making 11 saves. Alexis Maldonado played in goal in the second half, stopping four shots.
