PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's track and field program wrapped up another split squad weekend on Saturday evening. A handful of Explorers tested their skills at the Larry Ellis Princeton Invitational while the rest of the team competed locally at the Widener Invitational.
Larry Ellis Princeton Invitational
Meghan McGlinchey clocked a 16:36.31 in the 5000m run on Saturday, good for a fourth place finish (77-runner field) in the event. The time marked her high water mark of the 2013 outdoor season.
Michelle Capozzi placed in the field's top half with a 35
th place finish and a time of 17:34.55.
Wendy Hutchinson crossed the finish line at 2:11.27 in the 800m run en route to 16
th place finish (51-runner field). Teammate
Elizabeth Walker set a PR in the event with a 2:16.43, finishing 36
th.
Widener Invitational
Alyssa Mullen took home the top time in the 3000m steeplechase with an 11:41.94, her best time of the 2013 outdoor season.
Jessica DiVenere clocked a 12:24.06 en route to a fourth place finish.
Shanice Johnson leaped a career best 5.51m in the long jump to secure the top finish in the 26-competitor field. The jump bested her previous PR by .15m.
Three Explorer women placed in the top-14 in the 1500m run on Saturday, paced by a sixth place finish (4:50.58, PR) finish from
Kaylie McNally.
Christa Strycharz came in 12
th with a 4:58.71 while
Carolan DiFiore was close behind with a 14
th place finish (5:01.60, PR).
Taylor Hackett and
Kate Conville finished eighth and ninth, respectively in the 800m run, clocking times of 2:19.09 and 2:19.80 (PR).
Ashley Stump came in at 2:26.56, good for a 21
st place finish.
The Explorers will compete again this week beginning on Thursday in the much anticipated Penn Relays. Others will head to Ewing, N.J. on Saturday for the TCNJ Lions Invitational.
