PHILADELPHIA - Rising senior goalkeeper
John McCarthy is garnering national attention prior to his senior campaign, as he was listed among the top 10 returning goalies in the nation according to TopDrawerSoccer.com.
McCarthy, who has been the starting keeper since his freshman year, is a two-time Atlantic 10 All-Conference pick after earning All-Rookie honors in his freshman season. He led the nation with 143 saves as a sophomore and was fourth nationally with 114 last season. McCarthy also recorded a .844 save percentage last year, best in the Atlantic 10 and eighth in the nation.
The 2012 NSCAA Scholar All-American and NSCAA All-Region First Team pick has helped the squad to three straight Atlantic 10 Tournament appearances, including advancing to the championship game as a freshman and the semifinals as a sophomore.
