Best Buzzer Beater Award

Men's Basketball – January 23 vs. Butler (W, 54-53)
Ramon Galloway | View Recap

The Explorers led 52-51 until Butler's Andrew Smith converted a nifty layup with 8.4 seconds left, giving the Bulldogs a one point advantage. La Salle advanced the ball quickly to its trusty leader, who was not to be denied, beating his defender off the dribble for an acrobatic finish. A half court heave from Butler's Roosevelt Jones drew unfriendly iron, giving the Explorers a 54-53 victory over the ninth ranked team in the nation.

Women's Soccer – November 4 vs. VCU (W, 2-1)
Renee Washington | View Recap

Locked at 1-1, it wasn't until the extra frame, in the 99th minute, that La Salle would convert a restart into a game-winning goal.  Sophomore
Maryam Huseini
fielded the restart from 35 yards out, sending a well-struck ball into the box, off the head of Renee Washington and into the goal. The victory secured an outright Atlantic 10 title and sent the Blue and Gold to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season.

Lacrosse – April 14 vs. Temple (W, 14-13)
Lauren Ignacio | View Recap

Lauren Ignacio
converted a free position goal with 12 seconds remaining to cap off a nine-goal rally and send the La Salle lacrosse team to a hard-fought 14-13 come-from-behind victory over Temple at McCarthy Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Blue and Gold trailed 13-5 midway through the second period.

The picture-perfect ending gave the Explorers their first conference win of the season and, even better, sent the 2013 senior class out in style in the home finale. The program's six senior players and two managers were honored in a pre-game ceremony.

Men's Basketball – December 8 at Northeastern (W, 66-64)
Tyreek Duren| View Recap

With the game tied up at 64, Junior
Tyreek Duren hit a fade-away jumper with 1.2 seconds remaining to break a tie game and give visiting La Salle a 66-64 win at Northeastern. Duren scored all 12 of his points in the second half and provided late-game heroics for the second time in as many weeks.

The clutch bucket gave the Explorers their fifth straight victory, improving their season record to 7-1 at the time.

Field Hockey – October 14 at Saint Joseph's (W, 1-0)
Colleen Kempf | View Recap

Sophomore
Colleen Kempf scored the game-winner with 1:09 remaining on the clock to give the La Salle field hockey team a 1-0 key Atlantic 10 win at Saint Joseph's. The goal broke a scoreless tie and improved the Explorers' then-conference record to 2-1.

Women's Basketball – February 13 vs. Saint Louis (W, 49-46)
Shanel Harrison | View Recap

With La Salle leading 46-43 with under five seconds to go, the onus was on Saint Louis to deliver. The Billikens did, knotting the game at 46-46 with 4.8 seconds to go and overtime all but certain. But
Shanel Harrison was not having any of that, getting the ball on the inbounds and zipping the length of the court around Billiken defenders to launch a desperation heave at the buzzer - and sinking that attempt for three points and the 49-46 Atlantic 10 win at Tom Gola Arena. The bucket capped a brilliant game from the senior, who notched a 23-point outing.

Men's Basketball – March 25 vs. Ole Miss (W, 76-74)
Tyrone Garland | View Recap

With the game even at 74 apiece, Tyrone Garland banked home a scooping layup with 2 seconds left and the 13th-seeded Explorers beat Mississippi, 76-74. The now famous "Southwest Philly Floater" catapulted the Blue and Gold into the Sweet 16 and Garland into the hearts of Explorer fans all over the country.
