PHILADELPHIA - Pacific's Melissa Maultsby scored with less than six minutes remaining to break a tie game to give the Tigers a 2-1 victory over La Salle in a game played at Drexel's Buckley Field. Senior Olivia Shoemaker scored La Salle's only goal, while junior Lisa Shaffer made five saves for the Explorers.

Pacific, in the midst of a four-day, four-game road trip to Philadelphia, scored in the fourth minute when Leah Cofer scored off a pass from Emily Tregoning. The Explorers had five penalty corners in the first half but were unable to convert and trailed 1-0 at intermission.

La Salle controlled much of the action in the second stanza and held an 8-3 advantage in corners and a 14-6 lead in shots. But it wasn't until Shoemaker rifled a shot off a corner with 13 minutes remaining that the Blue and Gold got on the scoreboard. Junior Maddy Tettelbach and sophomore Juliana Carfagno were credited with the assists.

Maultsby helped the Tigers avoid overtime for the second straight game when she took a waist-high pass from Katelyn Tatar and sent a laser into the back of the net.

La Salle held a 13-3 lead in corners and a 16-11 advantage in shots for the contest. Pacific's Molly Macierz stopped seven shots for the win. 

The Explorers (1-6) are back in action on Sunday at noon versus Liberty. Live statistics and a video stream will be available.
