NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – La Salle freshman Morgan Szekely has been honored as the women's Atlantic 10 Cross Country Rookie of the Week. Szekely earned the nod following her 57^th place finish out of 293 runners at the ISU Pre-Nationals this past Saturday.
 
The Marion, Texas native completed the 6k course in Terre Haute, Ind. in a time of 21:41.1, which was the top individual time for an Explorer. Szekely has been the top individual finisher for La Salle in all but one race she has run so far this season. The ISU Pre-Nationals field featured six of the top 30 ranked teams by the USFTCCCA in the nation.
 
The women's team currently sits in seventh place in the Mid-Atlantic Region in the most recent poll released by the USTFCCCA. The Explorers are currently the highest ranked Atlantic 10 school in the region.
 
La Salle will return to action on November, 1 when they head to Pittsburgh for the Atlantic 10 Championships. Szekely will look to help the team improve upon their third place finish from last year.
