UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – La Salle placed four runners in the top 100 at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship on Friday afternoon. The strong stretch of top finishers led La Salle to a 15
th place finish out of 25 total teams.
Senior
Nico Greco again led the Explorers with a time of 32:23 which was good for 84
th overall place. He was followed closely by a pair of sophomores in
Chris Berry and Fran Ferruzzi who finished in 87
th and 89
th respectively. The sophomores posted times of 32:31 and 32:32 on the day.
"The men had a bunch of illness last week, but rallied to put together a team effort and finish the season on a positive note," said head coach
Tom Peterson.
Senior
Ben Pershall was the final Explorer to finish in the top 100 as he crossed in 90
th overall place with a time of 32:36. Junior Tim Flanagan and sophomore
David Ozarowski were the next two to cross the line with times of 33:01 and 33:05 to finish in 108
th and 111
th place respectively. The final La Salle runner to cross the finish line was junior
Rodrigo Nunez who finished in 33:39 for a 124
th place finish.
Villanova won the team championship thanks to 41 total points. Penn State senior Matt Fischer won the race on his home course with a time of 30:16.
La Salle will close out their season at the ECAC Championships in Bronx, N.Y. on November 22.
