TOWSON, Md.-
Redshirt sophomore Jordan Price scored a career high 31 points to lead the La Salle men's basketball team to a 67-53 win at Towson on Saturday evening. Senior Jerrell Wright added 10 points of his own to finish in double digits for the eighth time this season.

"I thought our effort was really good," head coach Dr. John Giannini said. "We followed our formula for winning which is terrific defense and not turning the ball over. I think if we do those two things we can have a very good season."

La Salle (6-5) limited Towson to just 32.6% shooting from the floor, its third lowest of any opponent of the season. The Explorers also held Towson (7-4) without a three pointer despite the Tigers attempting 14 on the night.

"We're really a strange team in that it seems like teams are shooting 50% against us or we are holding them in the 30s," Giannini said. "It seems like we never play average defense. It's either really good or not good."

Price shot 8-for-16 from the field and 12-for-14 from the line to better his previous career high by one point. He scored 30 points on November 25 versus St. Francis Brooklyn. He is the first A-10 player this season with multiple 30-point games.

The Explorers used an 11-2 run midway through the first half to help them build a 32-15 lead at the half that they would not look back from. The 17 point lead is the largest La Salle has held at halftime all season. The team improves to 5-0 on the year when they hold a halftime lead.

Lewis and Wright each had three steals in the first half to help the team force 11 total in the first half while forcing the Tigers to 12 turnovers in the half.

Senior Steve Zack pulled down a season high 14 rebounds which was the fifth time this season he has finished with double digit rebounds.

The Tigers were able to come out and trim the Explorers advantage to just eight thanks to a 17-8 run from the home team to start the second half.

However, La Salle answered right back with a 15-4 run of its own to extend the advantage up to 19 points with 6:19 remaining in the game. Price scored eight straight points to help fuel the run while redshirt freshman Amar Stukes added four of his seven total points during the stretch.

The Explorers went 25-30 from the free throw line to help seal out the win in the game's final moments. The 30 free throws tied a season high in free throw attempts while the 25 made was the most made by La Salle this season.

La Salle turned the 16 Towson turnovers into 24 points as they took advantage of the host's mistakes throughout the game. La Salle held the lead for 36:56 of the game and only trailed for 2:16 seconds early in the first half. They were also able to take advantage of every possession, as they averaged 1.098 points per trip up the floor while only turning the ball over a total of nine times.

La Salle closes out its road trip with a visit to Hofstra on Tuesday December 23 for a 4 p.m. tip.

NOTES: La Salle improved to 61-3 when leading with five minutes to play since the beginning of the 2011-12 season...Sophomore walk-on Hank Davis made his season debut...It was a homecoming of sorts for freshman Johnnie Shuler (Washington, D.C.) and junior O.J.
