Colleen Kempf Named to Philly Inquirer Academic All-Area Team

PHILADELPHIA - La Salle field hockey senior Colleen Kempf picked up another postseason honor this week, as she was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team.

The Academic All-Area team is comprised of 11 players from the 28 area Division I, II and III schools, and voted on by the sports information directors at the area institutions.

Kempf scored a career-best seven goals this season, and was the team's leading scorer in Atlantic 10 play to earn Atlantic 10 Second Team recognition. She scored two game-winning goals, including the overtime game winner in the Explorers' comeback win at Saint Louis and in the Senior Day win over Bryant. Kempf concluded her La Salle career with 36 career points on 15 goals and six assists. 

Kempf is an academic standout as well. She holds a 3.80 GPA in the five-year speech pathology program, and also earned Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference recognition this season.

Joining Kempf on the Academic All-Area team are Stephanie Bacho (Gwynedd-Mercy), Kerry Anne Farrell (Cabrini), Karlee Henderson (Rowan), Maggie Karmeris (Widener), Megan Keenan (Ursinus), Jenna Knouse (Drexel), Nicole Kroener (Temple), Kristen Moisey (Saint Joseph's), Ashley O'Donnell (Immaculata) and Kelsey Zook (Delaware Valley). Keenan was tabbed the All-Area Performer of the Year.
