Scouting the Explorers

La Salle looks to capitalize on its season-opening 17-5 win on Monday when the Explorers head across town to former A-10 rival Temple. Caitlyn Brostrand drained a game-high five goals and added one assist to open the season with six points. Katelyn Fay and Kelly Furman added hat tricks with three goals and one assist apiece. Claire Andrews also added four points on one goal and three assists.

Rookie Gabby Antonelli was terrific in her collegiate debut. She earned the start in goal and recorded seven saves while giving up just four goals. Erin McCabe also helped defensively with a game-high three caused turnovers and Jackie Donato picked up four draw controls.

Scouting the Owls
The Owls look to avenge last season's 14-13 loss after the Explorers rallied from a nine-goal deficit to win in the final seconds. The Owls opened their season on Tuesday against Saint Joseph's, coming away with the 11-7 win, and will be playing on back-to-back days.

Freshman Morgan Glassford made a strong debut for Temple lacrosse in the 2014 season opener, scoring three goals and recording an assist to help the Owls defeat visiting Saint Joseph's, 11-7. After a tie score of 5-5 at halftime, Temple broke the game open early in the second half with a 4-0 run.

Rachel Schwaab and Kathryn Skahan each scored twice for Temple, with Schwaab's goals coming back-to-back in the second-half run.

Schwab returns for her sophomore season after earning Atlantic 10 All-Rookie honors in 2013. Senior Jaymie Tabor is the team's leading returning scorer with 27 goals scored in 2013, and senior Kelly Syphard was also among last year's leaders with 10 goals.

The goalkeeper position is open upon the graduation of Meghan Clothier, and junior Rachel Hall and redshirt sophomore Jaqi Kakalecik will be vying for time. Both played 30 minutes apiece against Saint Joseph's, with Kakalecik earning the win in the second half.

Scouting the Blue Devils
CCSU will look to regroup following the loss of top two scorers Betsy Vendel and Mackenzy Ryan to graduation. Vendel recorded 52 points last season and Ryan recorded 40.

The Blue Devils return a pair of juniors in Amanda Toke and Claire Healy, who went 3-4 in the scoring column last season. Toke scored 28 goals and recorded seven assists for 35 points last season, and Healy drained 21 goals and assisted on seven others for 28 points.

Elyse Malecki returns for her sophomore season after registering 27 points on 24 goals and three assists as a rookie.

Junior keeper Morgan Tullar is also back after playing all 1086 minutes last year and recording a 9.01 goals against average.

The Explorers and Blue Devils met at McCarthy Stadium last season, with the Explorers coming out with an 8-7 double-overtime victory.
