PHILADELPHIA - Members of the six Philadelphia-area Division I men's soccer programs gathered at the Sheraton University City on Wednesday night for the annual Philadelphia Soccer Six awards banquet. Four Explorers were honored for their outstanding play during the 2013 season.

Senior Jason Plumhoff was named Chris Jones Player of the Year, becoming the first Explorer to be named the city's top players since Ryan Richter earned the distinction in 2010. Plumhoff tallied 11 goals and 10 assists in the fall, leading the Atlantic 10 in both categories. He was the only player in the nation to lead his respective conference in both goals and assists. His 32-point output also led the Soccer 6 and was named Player of the Week on two occasions (10/15, 11/4). The Ellicott City, Md. native was named A-10 Offensive Player of the Year, a first-team NSCAA All-Region selection, and an ECAC All-Star.

Senior John McCarthy was the lone goalkeeper to crack the Soccer 6 All-Star team, his third consecutive year doing so. McCarthy led the A-10 and ranked sixth nationally in saves/game (6.11) while also leading the conference in save percentage (.823) and total saves (116). He was voted Soccer 6 Defender of the Week on four occasions during the season (9/17, 9/23, 10/16, 11/11). The Cinnaminson, N.J. native was named to the first-team A-10 All-Conference team, a third-team NSCAA All-region selection, an ECAC All-Star, and a third-team NSCAA Scholar All-American.

Freshmen Matt Robinson and Dan Caya were selected to the Soccer 6 All-Rookie team. Robinson made 14 starts in 2013 as a true freshman in the Explorer midfield. He picked up assists on September 4 vs. Loyola (Md.) and September 21 vs. Lehigh. Caya forced his way into the starting lineup on September 11 at LIU Brooklyn and never looked back. In his 17 starts as a defender, La Salle forfeited only 1.23 goals per game. He scored his first career goal vs. Lehigh on September 21.

The Explorers went 1-1 in its two official Soccer 6 matches in 2013, defeating Saint Joseph's 2-0 on October 18 and falling 1-0 at Drexel on September 17. All six city teams split their two league matches, the first time that has happened in the history of the association.
