Scouting the Explorers
La Salle jumped out to a 3-0 record to start the 2014 season, the first time in program history that the Explorers started a season with three straight wins. The squad knocked off LIU Brooklyn 17-5 in its home opener, before going on the road to defeat Temple 7-4 and Central Connecticut 14-8.

A pair of Explorers picked up Atlantic 10 weekly honors. Claire Andrews is the reigning Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week after recording two hat tricks and a total of 11 points to lead the team in scoring. Gabby Antonelli is the reigning A-10 Defensive Player of the Week, earning the honor in just her first week on the collegiate field. She has picked up all three wins in goal while recording 24 saves and a terrific .600 save percentage in her debut week.

In addition to Andrews' team-leading 11 points, Caitlyn Brostrand recorded nine points on eight goals and one assist though she remains sidelined with a knee injury sustained against Temple. Katelyn Fay and Erin McCabe drained six goals apiece last week.

Defensively, Jackie Donato returned to the field after missing last season with an injury and leads the squad with five caused turnovers and recording four draw controls. The Explorers are without starting defender Katie Marasco, who also remains sidelined with a knee injury sustained in the Temple game. Rookie Anna Gordon earned her first collegiate start in place of Marasco at Central Connecticut, recording one ground ball and helping the squad hold off the Blue Devils in the 14-8 win.

Scouting the Retrievers
UMBC enters the weekend with a 1-2 record, earning its first win in dramatic fashion last Saturday as the Retrievers outlasted American 11-10 in double overtime. They dropped their season opener against Maryland, 14-3, and also dropped an 11-6 decision at Towson.

Abby Wilson leads the squad in scoring through three games, recording six points on four goals and two assists. Kristen Bilney and Alyssa Semones have recorded four points apiece and a quartet of players have three points each. Defender Lexi Bristow has a team-best three caused turnovers and Semones leads the team with seven draw controls.

A pair of goalkeepers have seen significant time so far. Sophomore Anna Barnett started all three games so far and is recording a .415 save percentage and 10.77 goals against average in 133 minutes. Rookie Kelly Gielner has played 67 minutes in relief, recording a .500 save percentage and 10.28 goals against average.

Scouting the Blue Hens
Delaware is 1-2 heading into the weekend, but will play at Rutgers on Saturday prior to the meeting with the Explorers on Wednesday. The Blue Hens dropped a pair of games to ranked teams, including a 19-11 loss at No. 10 Georgetown and an 11-8 setback at No. 16 Penn. They topped Lafayette 11-6 on Feb. 19.

The Blue Hens look strong heading into the 2014 season, having topped No. 7 Duke 10-9 in a preseason exhibition.

Kara Dattellas leads the squad through three games with six goals and two assists for eight points. Four Blue Hens have seven points apiece including 2013 leading scorer Caitlin McCartney, Chelsea Fay, Shannon Hawley and Casey Lyons. Fay, a senior, is the older sister of Explorer sophomore Katelyn Fay.

McCartney also leads the squad with eight draw controls. Sophomore defender Lizzie Duffey has a team-high six caused turnovers.

Alex Zaugra has started all three games and sports a .450 save percentage and 10.49 goals against average in 125 minutes. Tori Zorovich has seen a total of 54 minutes in two games, recording a .300 save percentage and 15.52 goals against average.
