PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle field hockey squad once again finished among the top academic teams in the country, as the team was awarded the Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award. Eleven team members also earned individual recognition on the Division I National Academic Squad.

The Explorers earned the team distinction thanks to a team cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. The Explorers join six of the seven other Atlantic 10 field hockey squads in earning the team honor, including: Lock Haven, Massachusetts, Richmond, Saint Francis, Saint Joseph's and VCU.

The following Explorers were also named to the National Academic Squad: Juliana Carfagno, Georgia Harris, Colleen Kempf, Abbey Lawrence, Jenica Miller, Olivia Shoemaker, Judith Sweere, Kaylee Taillon, Maddy Tettelbach, Emily Vasey and Taylor Yoder.

The 11 Explorers join 66 other Atlantic 10 players in earning the distinction. To qualify, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 through the first semester of the 2013-14 academic year.
