PHILADELPHIA- Tom Peterson, in his first season at the helm of the La Salle Cross Country programs, was "Mic'd Up" this past weekend at the Big 5 Invitational. Coach Peterson wore a microphone the entire meet to give us an inside look at what it's like on race day for the La Salle Explorers.
The video shows a behind the scenes look at Coach Peterson on race day at Belmont Plateau. From his pre-meet speech, on course coaching and encouragement, Coach Peterson racing across the course with guidance, and post-meet reactions with his players, the entire meet was documented. Be sure to watch the video to see exactly what it is like to be an Explorer on race day.
"It was a great experience being mic'ed up for the Big 5 Invitational," said Coach Peterson. "It gives our supporters an inside look at what it's like to be a cross country athlete at La Salle. The goal of every meet is to represent the jersey that many great athletes have worn to the best of our ability."
Both the men and the women finished in second place on the day behind only the Penn Quakers. The women were led by a trio of freshmen;
Megan Connell (14:35.4),
Morgan Szekely (14:41.3), and
Emily Ward (14:41.8) who finished in sixth, eighth and ninth place respectively. The men were led by another strong outing from senior
Nico Greco who finished in eighth place with a time of 18:47.9.
