Nico Greco was named the Atlantic 10 Cross Country Men's Performer of the week following his second place finish at the Duquesne Duals. Greco opened the season with a blazing time of 26:20.8 in the 8k race. In a finish that came down to the wire, Greco and Austin Mclean of Youngstown State sprinted to the finish line, with Greco coming in just .1 seconds behind Mcclean and first place overall.

Greco's performance helped the Explorers go 4-2-1 on the day with wins over Buffalo, George Mason, St. Vincent's and Carnegie Mellon while falling to Duquesne and St.Joseph's and tying Youngstown State. The Explorers were ranked 8
th in the USTFCCCA Mid-Atlantic Regional Preseason Poll and preseason favorites in the Atlantic 10.
The senior from Terryville, Conn. is coming off a season that saw him win the Atlantic 10 Championship both individually and as part of the Explorers team championship.

Greco and the men's cross country team will return to action on September 12, as they take part in the Friends Big 5 Invitational at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia.Â
