PHILADELPHIA-
The La Salle women's soccer team defeated ACC foe Pittsburgh 1-0 at McCarthy Stadium on Sunday afternoon thanks to a goal from Danielle Marx in the 66th minute.

The game-winning goal came at the 65:01 mark in the second half after a string of great ball movement from the Explorers. Kelsey Haycook fed the ball to Deja Davis in the near corner, who crossed it into the box to set up Marx's game-winning header. The sophomore buried the ball just inside the far post.

La Salle limited the Panthers to just seven shots total, and three shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Jessica Wiggins helped set the tone for the Explorers with a marquee save in the 8th minute.

"It was a great team win, I thought our defense was outstanding," said head coach Paul Royal. "From the moment Jessie came up with that huge save 5-10 minutes in, I thought we played our most complete game of the season."

The Explorers (2-2-1) had 16 shots, their second-highest total this season, and matched a season-high with eight shots on goal. Jessika Kagan paced the attack with four shots while Haycook added three.

"We generated more chances than in any game this season, so it's definitely something to build on for our attack," Royal added.

The Explorers continue their homestand on Friday night as they host the Princeton Tigers (0-1-0) at 7 PM at McCarthy Stadium
