Women’s Soccer Hosts Dayton, VCU This Week

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team enters a pivotal week of conference play at McCarthy Stadium as they host the Dayton Flyers on Thursday and the VCU Rams on Sunday afternoon. 
 
Scouting the Explorers
-La Salle is coming off a 3-1 win at Saint Joseph's on Sunday afternoon, and has won two of their last three beginning with a 2-1 defeat of Davidson on October 4.

-Madison Bower netted the game-winner for the Explorers on Sunday with a chip from the right side of the box in the 43rd minute.

-Both of Bower's goals this season have been game-winners. The sophomore's score in the 77th minute against Lehigh on September 3 lifted the Blue and Gold to a 2-1 win over the Mountain Hawks.  

-Redshirt freshman Clarissa Kirsch-Downs scored the first goal of her career in the 62nd minute against Saint Joseph's to push La Salle's lead to 3-1. The Odenton, Md. native also picked up her first career assist on Bower's game-winner in the 43rd minute. 

-The Explorers have won their last two games at McCarthy Stadium and are unbeaten at home this season, going 2-0-2 through their first four games.

Scouting the Flyers

-UD had won four straight games prior to a 3-2 loss to the VCU Rams on the road on Sunday.
 
-Notoriously tough at home, Dayton is just 3-3 at Baujan Field this season with losses to Ohio State, Wright State and Texas A&M. La Salle snapped Dayton's 30-game home conference unbeaten streak with a 1-0 win over the Flyers at Baujan Field last October. 

-Senior Ashley Campbell is second in the Atlantic 10 in goals scored (9) and tied for first in points (23). 

-The Flyers are tied with Saint Louis for the league lead in assists (24), and have two players in the top 10 in the league in helpers in Nicole Waters (8) and Campbell (5). 

-True freshman Kaelyn Johns has started every match in goal for the Flyers, racking up 53 saves in 13 games. 

-The Flyers lead the league in corner kicks taken this year with 76.

Scouting the Rams

-The Rams are entering a matchup with George Washington on Thursday unbeaten in their last six games, including five straight wins. 

-VCU senior Kailyn Slade earned her second straight Atlantic-10 Conference Player of the Week award on Monday after playing a part in five of the six VCU goals last week. The Woodbridge, Va. native had a hat trick in a 3-2 win over Fordham on Thursday before assisting two goals in a 3-2 win over Dayton on Sunday. 

-Slade is tied for fifth in the Atlantic 10 in points (17) and fourth in goals (7).

-VCU keeper Emma Kruse is second in the league with 70 saves this season while the Rams have a 1.35 goals against average.
