PHILADELPHIA – La Salle hits the road for the first time in conference play as they head across the state to take on Duquesne with first serve scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Scouting the Dukes...La Salle Explorers (6-12, 0-2 A-10) at Duquesne Dukes (6-10, 0-2 A-10)Saturday, Oct. 3 | Pittsburgh, Pa. | 4:00 p.m.Live Statistics | -Duquesne fell 3-1 to both Saint Louis and Dayton this past weekend to kick off its conference schedule.
-The Dukes are coming off a season that saw them reach the Atlantic 10 Championship where they fell to Saint Louis in the first round.
-Duquesne leads the conference by averaging 15.17 digs per set.
-Junior Lacey Levers is eighth in the conference hitting at a .324 clip on the season. She also ranks tenth in kills per set averaging 2.81. Classmate Madelynn Burnham leads the team and is seventh in the A-10 averaging 2.87 kills per set.
-Libero Sammy Kline ranks fifth in the conference averaging 3.70 digs per set.
Scouting the Explorers...- La Salle enters the weekend after dropping its first two matches of conference play. The Explorers fell 3-1 to Saint Louis and 3-0 to defending Atlantic 10 champions Dayton. The set win over Saint Louis was the first in school history.
-Freshman
Jensen Sharrits was named Atlantic 10 Co-Defensive Player of the Week following the first weekend of Atlantic 10 play. She currently leads the conference averaging 4.30 digs per set. Sharrits is currently in the top 50 nationally with 271 digs on the season.
-Sophomore
Hannah McGary is ranked 18
th in the nation with 26 service aces on the year. She set a La Salle program record against UMBC as she recorded eight aces in the five set win for the Explorers. Freshman
Taylor Hite is close behind as she is fourth in the A-10 and 36
th nationally with 36 aces on the year.
-La Salle has three players with over 100 kills on the season. Sophomore
Bryanna Davis leads the way with 132. Junior
Ashley Felton (129) and senior
Laura Kuhlmeier (110) are close behind. Davis has recorded double-digit kills in four straight games including 17 against Saint Louis and 10 against Dayton.
-Freshman
Taylor Hite helped run an efficient offense all season thanks in part to her proving to be a threat offensively as well. Hite is leading the team hitting .310 on the year while adding 511 assists.
Next UpLa Salle continues its road swing as it heads to Rhode Island and Fordham next weekend on Friday and Saturday respectively. Both games are slated to get underway at 7 p.m.
