NCAA Release

INDIANAPOLIS- La Salle cross country sophomore Morgan Szekely has been selected as an individual qualifier for the 2015 Women's Cross Country Championships as announced by the NCAA Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee on Saturday.
 
Szekely was one of thirty-eight individuals who were selected as individual qualifiers for the championship which will take place on Saturday, November 21, at Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville Kentucky.

"It is a great accomplishment for Morgan to qualify for her second consecutive NCAA Championship, especially considering that seven weeks ago an injury almost ended her season," added head coach Tom Peterson. "She managed that injury, like the race on Friday, with patience and faith in her training.  Morgan heads into this NCAA Championship with a lot more experience than she did a year ago, and experience is invaluable."
 
For the Marion, Texas native this is the second consecutive season which she has qualified for the NCAA Championships after qualifying last season as a freshman. Szekely finished in 169^th place last seasons at the championships where were held in Terre Haute, Indiana.
 
Szekely becomes just the second runner in La Salle women's cross country history to qualify for the championships multiple times joining Rachel Papin who was a three-time qualifier from 2005-07. The sophomore successfully defended her individual Atlantic 10 title earlier this season, and finished in eighth place at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships earlier this month. She was one of four individuals from the Mid-Atlantic region to qualify for nationals individually.

"As a program this marks our fourth year in a row sending an athlete to the NCAA meet," stated Peterson. "That is a streak we are very proud of, and one we hope to continue for many years to come."
