Scouting the Explorers
The Explorers enter Wednesday's game after splitting their first two. They defeated UMBC 10-9 in overtime in the season opener on the road before dropping a 9-7 decision to Temple in last week's home opener.

Through the first two games, Allee Ilgenfritz leads the squad with four goals after she posted a hat trick at UMBC. Alanna Diffendal leads point-wise with five on three goals and two assists. Erin McCabe is tied with Ilgenfritz with four points on three goals and one assist.

A total of eight Explorers have recorded at least one goal, and the team as a whole is sporting a 43.6 shot percentage while holding opponents to 33.3 percent. Although the squad has been outshot by an average of 27.0 to 19.5 shots per game, the Explorers have been outscored by just one goal per game.

A big part of that is the defense, anchored by keeper Gabby Antonelli who is sporting a .550 save percentage and has recorded 22 saves in two games. This has been pivotal on free position attempts as opponents are just 6-for-16 from the 8-meter arc.

Caitlyn Brostrand has stepped up her defense, leading field players with three caused turnovers and four ground balls through the first two contests.

Scouting the Blue Hens
Delaware is 2-1 after winning its first two and dropping a close 9-7 contest to Penn last weekend. The Blue Hens blew out both Georgetown and Lafayette to open the season, including a 17-5 victory over the Hoyas and 22-2 rout of the Leopards.

Through three games, Delaware has dominated by outshooting opponents 86-43 and outscoring them 46-16. Part of that high powered offense is carried by Casey Lyons, who is already up to 19 points on 14 goals and five assists. Jamie Schwartz is also up to double-digit points with 10 points on four goals and six assists, and two others (Caitlin McCartney and Shannon Hawley) have recorded nine points each. A total of 11 Blue Hens have recorded at least one point.

Alex Zaugra has played all 180 minutes in goal, and is recording a .407 save percentage and 5.33 goals against average.

The team scores on 53.5 percent of its shot attempts, limiting opponents to 37.2 percent.
