NEW HAVEN, CT.- For the second weekend in a row senior
Cayleigh Solano won her sole event of the weekend and helped lead the La Salle women's track and field team at the Geigengack Invitational.
Solano, coming off a win in the 800 meter at the Penn State Nationals last weekend, won the 1000 meter run this weekend. Solano finished in 2:55.1 pacing the field of 18 by 1.46 seconds. The time was Solano's person best in the event, besting her previous best by over seven seconds.
Junior
Molly Mickle led three Explorers who finished in the top 10 of the 5000 meter run. Mickle finished in second with a time of 17:38.9 in the 17 women race. For Mickle this was a career best at La Salle shaving 54.99 seconds off of her previous fast time in the event. Freshman
Michelle Myland and sophomore
Olivia Boyer also turned in top ten finishes in the event with Myland coming in sixth in 18:14.5 while Boyer finishing in 18:21.9 for tenth.
Three Explorers also finished in the top ten of the 800 meter run led. Upperclassmen Shannon Dywer and
Kate Conville finished consecutively for sixth and seventh place overall. Dwyer ran a 2:18.5 while Conville turned in a career best time of 2:19.2 for seventh place. Freshman Ifetyao Tyler was close behind with a time of 2:20.4 for a ninth place finish in the 33 women field.
Junior
Rebecca Scardelletti turned in a career best time of 5:11.7 in the one mile run for an eighth place finish overall. Right on her heels was senior
Taylor Hackett who finished in tenth in the 20 women event thanks to a time of 5:17.1.
Sohpomore
Amber Jackson used a leap of 5.09 meters in the long jump for a 12
th place finish in the 28 women field.
Freshman
Victoria Jones ran a 28.73 in the 200 meter dash for a 35
th place finish and used a 8.7 second time in the 60 meter dash for a 23
rd place finish.
Carolyn Boyce finished in 20
th place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:05.7 while sophomore
Madison Elliott ran a 5:53.9 in the one mile run for a 19
th place finish. Senior
Alex Guntle ran a 2:56.4 in the 800 meter run for a 33
rd place finish while
Courtney Cramer ran a 19:55.1 to finish in 16
th place overall.
The distance medley team of Scardelletti, Tyler, Solano, and Hackett finished in third of eight teams thanks to a time of 12:01.6.
The Explorers return to action next weekend when they head to Boston for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.Â
