BOULDER- Three La Salle freshman runners took a break from track and field action to compete in the 2015 USA Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Flatirons Golf Course in Boulder, Co.

The three freshman who helped fuel the Explorers to a second place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championships in the fall competed in the 43 runner field for the event.

Megan Connell was the first of the trio to finish the course, crossing in 23:15 for a 11th place finish overall. Close behind was Kaitlin Poiesz who turned in a time of 23:54 for 16th place overall.

Morgan Szekely was the final Explorer to cross the finish line. Szekely, the Atlantic 10 individual champion who qualified for the NCAA Championships, ran a 24:02 for a 20th place finish.

The trio of freshman were joined at the event by 2008 La Salle graduate Sean Quigley.  Quigley entered the event as one of the favorites in the Open Men's 12K race. The 29 year old ran a 38:35 for a 19th place finish overall in the event that had 96 entries. He led his team "Boulder Track Club A" to a second place finish overall, just 10 points off of the winning score.
