Scouting the Explorers
The Explorers return home after splitting a pair of contests on their spring break trip to Jacksonville last week. They fell 16-7 to Jacksonville, the defending Atlantic Sun champion, in a game televised on ESPN3 before bouncing back with a big 17-2 neutral site win over Kennesaw State. Allee Ilgenfritz led a balanced offensive attack last week with a team-best five goals, including a hat trick over JU. Katelyn Fay added a team-high six points on four goals and two assists, and Caitlyn Brostrand chipped in four points on three goals and one assist. The trio were three of the 10 Explorers who found the back of the net on the spring break trip.

Ilgenfritz has been the offensive leader through the first five games, racking up a team-high 12 goals and a total of 13 points. The rest of the offensive is truly balanced, with the Explorers able to employ any number of weapons. Alanna Diffendal is second in points with eight on five goals and three assists. Fay also has five goals along with two assists for seven total points, and Brittany Edwards is the third Explorer with five goals on the season. The rookie also chipped in an assist for a total of six points.

Five more Explorers have at least three goals this season, including Brostrand (4g, 1a, 6p), Claire Andrews (4g, 1a, 5p), Erin McCabe (3g, 2a, 5p), Kelly Furman (3g, 1a, 4p) and Rachel Ceplo (3g, 0a, 3p).

They suffered a 19-1 loss to Coastal Carolina in their last game on Sunday. They also faced Kennesaw State just prior to the Explorers' game vs. KSU, falling 17-7 to the Owls.

The Hornets have been outscored 102-28 so far this season. Emily Etkins has paced the squad with nine points on seven goals and two assists. Four more Hornets have three goals each, including Iman Hassan, Sierra Harris, Megan Card and Kayla Yurkanin.
