PHILADELPHIA- The La Salle women's track and field team kicked of their outdoor schedule by participating in the Philadelphia College Classic at Franklin Field. The Explorers had 14 competitors in six different events throughout the day.

Freshman
Michelle Myland turned in the best finish of any Explorer on the day thanks to her winning the 1500 meters event. Myland bested a field of 21 competitors with a time of 4:48.69, over four seconds clear of the field. Alex Moraschi also entered the event running a 5:12.74 for 16
th place.

Junior
Shannon Dwyer led three top ten place finishes in the women's 400 meters. Dwyer ran a personal record of 58.86 to finish in second place just .35 seconds off the winner, while winning her heat.
Kate Conville also ran a PR in the event thanks to a time of 1:00.98 for an eighth place finish. Freshman
Ifetayo Tyler finished in seventh with a time of 1:00.74.Bretteni Simpson (1:07.30),
Amber Jenkins (1:01.98), and
Carolyn Boyce (1:07.81) also competed in the event for the Explorers.

Freshmen
Megan Connell and
Kaitlin Poiesz both finished in the top 10 in the 42 women field in the 3000 meter run. Connell finished in fifth with a time of 9:53.12 and Poiesz was close behind in ninth at 9:58.91.
Katie Boligitz and
Courtney Cramer finished in 26
th and 27
th with times of 10:53.51 and 11:00.22 respectively.

Amber Jenkins ran a 26.80 in the 200 meter dash to finish in ninth of 35 competitors.
Victoria Jones also competed running a 28.71.
Alex Guntle represented the Explorers in the 800 meters running a 2:59.63 for 25
th place.

The women's 4x400 meter relay team finished in sixth place out of ten teams thanks to a time of 4:09.73.

The Explorers return to action next weekend as they head to New York for the Stony Brook Invitational on Saturday.
