HARRISBURG – Former La Salle men's soccer standout Jason Plumhoff has signed a contract with the United Soccer League's Harrisburg City Islanders, the team announced Monday.
Plumhoff spent last season playing professionally in Denmark with FC Sydvest 05 after earning an All-League selection as a member of Reading United AC in 2013. The Ellicott City, Md. product was one of three midfielders to earn the nod in the league of 64 teams and more than 1,200 players.
"Jason was a valuable asset to our 2013 squad and as a former All Eastern Conference PDL selection, we are confident he will be an impact player for Harrisburg as well," said Reading President and General Manager Art Auchenbach in the team's official release. "We are thankful that Jason's technical ability and field vision, along with his fantastic personality, have been recognized by Harrisburg and their coaching staff."
At La Salle, Plumhoff scored 27 career goals and is second all-time in assists (26) and fourth in points (80). Plumhoff was named the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year, NSCAA All-Region First Team and ECAC All-Star as a senior in 2013.
The Islanders kick off their season on the road on March 28 against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Highmark Stadium while the home opener is slated for April 18 against FC Montreal.
