Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The La Salle lacrosse squad dominated on Saturday, running to a 17-2 win over Kennesaw State in a neutral site contest at Jacksonville University.
The Explorer offense was a balanced attack, led by
Katelyn Fay and
Caitlyn Brostrand recording hat tricks. In addition to her three goals, Fay added an assist for a game-leading four points.
Kelly Furman added two goals and an assist.
Allee Ilgenfritz and
Brittany Edwards scored two apiece, and five more Explorers (2-3) scored one each as 10 different players found the back of the net.
Claire Andrews,
Rachel Ceplo,
Emily Martin,
Allie Burnett and
Alanna Diffendal each scored a goal, and Burnett added two assists for three total points.
The Explorers ran out to a 5-0 lead just six minutes into the game before Kennesaw State's Emily Hallberg got the Owls (1-6) on the board. The Explorers scored 10 straight goals spanning both halves to go up 15-1 by the midway point of the second half.
KSU added one more score, before Martin and Burnett rounded out the scoring for the final 17-2 tally.
La Salle outshot KSU 38-13 and forced 26 Owl turnovers. The Explorers also won the ground ball battle, 25-19, and controlled 12 draws to KSU's nine.
Gabby Antonelli made six saves in the win, playing 48 minutes.
Lucy Loughlin played 11 minutes, recording two saves. KSU's Allison Senft took the loss in goal, making 11 saves while giving up 15 goals.
The Explorers return home on Wednesday night when they host Delaware State at 7 p.m.
