PHILADELPHIA - Fresh off of its winningest season since joining the Atlantic 10 two decades ago, the La Salle field hockey squad returned to campus this week to begin preparations for its highly anticipated 2015 season.
Three freshmen and a graduate transfer join a solid core of returners, including two of last year's top three scorers.
Devin Muracco (Atlantic 10 Second Team) and
Kendall Kreider (Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team) headline the returning offense after pacing the Explorers with 17 points each in 2014. Junior keeper
Rachel Hartman is back in goal after leading the Atlantic 10 last year with a .810 save percentage. Her current career goals against average is also on pace for number two in program history.Â
Last year's squad finished with an 11-7 record and a program-best 5-3 mark in Atlantic 10 play.
Following the next couple weeks of preseason practice, the squad kicks off its 2015 campaign with a neutral-site contest against Maine, held at UMass Lowell. The home opener is set for Sunday, Sept. 6, with a noon game against Ball State.
