PHILADELPHIA – La Salle volleyball heads to New York for the Volley in the Valley this weekend. They kick it off against Bucknell on Friday at 7:30 p.m. before rounding out the tournament with a pair of games on Saturday, Marist at 1:30 p.m. and Bryant at 4:30 p.m.
Scouting the Bison...La Salle Explorers (4-4) vs Bucknell Bison (4-1)Friday, Sept. 11 | 7:30 p.m.Live Statistics -Bucknell enters the weekend riding a three game winning streak. The Bison swept their two matches last weekend at the SHU Hampton Inn Shelton grabbing a 3-2 win over Brown and a 3-1 win over Hartford.
-The Bison last played La Salle in 2013 when they grabbed a 3-1 over the Explorers as part of the La Salle Invitational. Six current Explorers played in the match with senior
Kelly Perillo leading the way with 17 kills and a .417 hitting percentage. Four Bucknell players return from that team with senior Karen Campbell having lead the Bison with 13 kills in the match.
-Bucknell finished 2014 seventh in the Patriot League going 5-11 in conference play.

Caitlin Rimgaila began her college coaching career as an assistant at Bucknell during the 2012 season.
-Senior Meghan Wentzel ranks second in the conference averaging 10.16 assists per set in the early part of the season. Classmate Karen Campbell ranks fourth in the conference with a .379 hitting percentage while leading the team with 62 kills.
Scouting the Red Foxes...La Salle Explorers (4-4) at Marist Red Foxes (3-4)Saturday, Sept. 12 | 1:30 p.m.Live Statistics | Video -Marist enters the weekend after picking up a midweek win at Army (3-1) to win the "Battle for the Hudson." The Red Foxes have one common opponent with the Explorers on the year as Marist dropped a 2-3 decision to Lafayette at the Crosstown Tournament last weekend while La Salle swept the Leopards at home.
-La Salle and Marist have not met since 2004 as part of the La Salle Invitational with the Explorers grabbing a 3-2 win.
-The Red Foxes reached the championship match of the MAAC Tournament last year before falling 3-2 to Siena.
-Marist enters the weekend with the second highest hitting percentage in the MAAC, hitting at a .206 clip. The Red Foxes have not been nearly as efficient at stopping opposing hitters as they rank ninth in the league allowing opponents to hit .218 off of them.
-Sophomore Kelsey Ediger leads the team with 82 kills on the year averaging 3.15 kills per set with a .224 hitting percentage.
Scouting the Bulldogs...La Salle Explorers (4-4) vs. Bryant Bulldogs (4-4)Saturday, Sept. 12 | 4:30 p.m.Live Statistics -Bryant enters the weekend on a four game skid. The Bulldogs started the year 4-0 but have dropped their past four games to move to 4-4 overall on the season.
-The Bulldogs and Explorers have one mutual opponent thus far this season, Providence. Bryant grabbed a 3-0 win while La Salle dropped a 0-3 decision to the Friars.
-Bryant leads the NEC averaging 15.65 digs per set. They rank fourth in hitting percentage, hitting at a .174 clip on the season.
-Underclassmen Vika Nesterov and Sophie Hoekstra each rank in the top ten in the conference in hitting percentage. The pair are both hitting at a .250 clip so far.
-Senior Debora Magalhaes leads the conference averaging 5.08 digs per set. Freshman Margot Ruffieux is third in the NEC averaging 0.44 services aces per frame.
Scouting the Explorers...- La Salle ranks second in the Atlantic 10 with a team hitting percentage of .220 on the season while leading the league in opponents hitting percentage (.154). The Explorers are also tops in the conference averaging 1.86 service aces per set.
-The Explorers enter the weekend following a 3-0 (25-8, 25-17, 27-25) win over Delaware State. The team tied a school record with 13 aces in the three set match which also ties for fifth most nationally this season.
-Freshman
Jensen Sharrits ranks second in the conference averaging 4.54 digs per set on the year. She earned Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week following her strong debut weekend.
-Sophomore
Hannah McGary recorded four aces in Wednesday's win over the Hornets. She currently tops the A-10 averaging .5 aces per set. She also had three ace performances against Eastern Washington and Providence.
-Junior
Ashley Felton leads the team in kills with 68 on the season. The Gambrills, Md. native ranks fourth in the conference with a hitting percentage of .353 on the year.
Next UpLa Salle returns home for a Wednesday matchup against Fairleigh Dickinson with first serve slated for 7 p.m. The Explorers will then participate in their final tournament of the year as they play in the Big 5 Tournament next weekend.
