Full ResultsPHILADELPHIA- A trio of underclassmen led the way for the La Salle women's cross country team at the Friends Big 5 Cross Country Invitational on Friday evening at Belmont Plateau.

Freshman
Kaitlin Poiesz was the first Explorer to cross the finish line finishing in sixth place with a time of 14:25.1, just 13.4 seconds off the winner on the 4k course. Next across was sophomore
Megan Connell in tenth place with a time of 14:33.1.

"This was a great showing from
Kaitlin Poiesz," added head coach
Tom Peterson. "In what was her first time running a cross country race in about two years she really showed well and ran a strong race."

The third scorer for the Explorers was freshman
Molly Dearie who finished in 30
th place with a time of 15:26.0 to score 22 points for La Salle.

"Today was big for
Molly Dearie," said head coach
Tom Peterson. "In her first time racing collegiately she really stuck her nose in there and was able to hang with the pack throughout much of the race."

Junior
Olivia Boyer finished in 38
th place with a time of 15:48.6. The fifth and final scorer for La Salle was
Rebecca Scardelletti who finished in 39
th with a time of 15:56.4.

Also running for the Explorers were sophomores
Ifetayo Tyler (52
nd, 16:46.7),
Alexandria Moraschi (53
rd, 16:49.4), and
Madison Elliott (58
th, 17:30.9) as well as senior
Shannon Dwyer (56
th, 17:26.9).

Also racing in the invitational was
Lauren Columbare as an unattached entry. Earlier in the day Columbare received her release from Rhode Island and learned she would be eligible to compete for La Salle this season.

La Salle returns to the track next Friday as they head to Haverford College for the Main Line Invite.Â
