La Salle Opens A-10 Play at Massachusetts Thursday, Hosts Davidson Sunday

PHILADELPHIA – After going 8-0 in conference play on the way to the 2014 Atlantic 10 regular season title, the La Salle women's soccer team opens the 2015 conference schedule this week at Massachusetts on Thursday before hosting Davidson on Sunday.   
 
Scouting the Explorers
-La Salle is back in action after nearly two weeks off, with their last game coming against Temple on September 18.
 
-The Explorers won three of four games to begin the month of September before losing to Princeton and Temple their last two times out.
 
-Fia Jonsson leads the Explores in points this season, tallying three goals and two assists through nine games.
 
-The Explorers defeated UMass 3-0 in the opening round of the A-10 tournament last season while they play Davidson for the first time since the Wildcats joined the A-10 in 2014.
 
-La Salle is 2-4 on the road this season and an unbeaten 1-0-2 at McCarthy Stadium.
 
-The women's soccer team tallied a 3.21 GPA in 2014-2015 to earn the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 13th consecutive season, including all twelve years under head coach Paul Royal.

Scouting the Minutewomen

-UMass hasn't allowed a goal during their three-game win streak, collecting shutout victories over Bryant, Brown and Harvard.
 
-UMass has allowed just three goals over the last seven games after giving up six scores to the Syracuse Orange in a 6-0 loss in the season opener on August 21.
 
- Keeper Cassidy Babin has four shutouts on the year and is ranked 10th nationally with a 0.40 goals-against-average and 16th with a 0.893 save percentage. Babin leads the Atlantic 10 in each category.
 
-UMass is averaging 2.0 goals per game over the last three matches after scoring just once in the first five.
 
-Megan Burke leads UM with a pair of goals on the season, while Laura Johns and Daniela Alvarez each have three assists.

Scouting the Wildcats

-Davidson is coming off a 7-0 victory over Francis Marion on Sunday. Six different Wildcats scored in the win while senior Vicky Bruce registered a single-game school-record four assists.
 
-Bruce now leads the Atlantic 10 with eight assists this season, and sits tied for fourth in points (12) thanks to two goals.
 
-The seven goals on the night were the most since the Wildcats scored eight in a season-opening win over UNC Asheville in 2011.
 
-The Wildcats have won three straight games after beginning the season 1-5, beating Wofford, Georgia State, and Francis Marion to snap a three-game losing streak.
 
-Davidson is fourth in the league with 47 corner kicks.
 
-Head coach Greg Ashton picked up his 110th career victory against Francis Marion, and needs just nine wins to become the program's all-time winningest coach.
