BETHLEHEM, Pa.- The La Salle women's cross country team opened their season after competing at the Lehigh Invitational.
Sophomore Morgan Szekely won the race with a time of 21:44.5 which was a full minute ahead of the second place finisher on the 6k course. Freshmen Kaitlin Poiesz and Molly Dearie along with sophomore Megan Connell were next to cross the line beginning in 19^th place with Poiesz with a time of 24:17.8.
 
Senior Rebecca Scardelletti and junior Olivia Boyer were the next pair to cross the finish line in 23^rd and 27^th place respectively and times of 24:32.2 and 24:47.8.
 
Rounding out the scoring for the Explorers was junior Madison Elliot who placed 42^nd with a time of 26:48.9. Sophomore Alexandria Moraschi also raced for La Salle running a time of27:27.2 for 47^th place.
 
The Explorers ran the 6k course prior to the race and treated the event as a training run which they ran at tempo speed in groups.
 
La Salle returns to action next Friday as they head to the Friends Big Five Invite which will be run at Belmont Plateau.
