HEMPTSTEAD, N.Y. - Former La Salle Men's Soccer standout and current New York Cosmos defender Ryan Richter scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the North American Soccer League championship game this past weekend.
Richter converted the kick into the lower left corner to seal the deal for his team in a shootout win over the Indy Eleven, delivering the eighth title to the program's history.
Richter graduated from La Salle in 2010 as the sixth-highest goal scorer in program history with 28 goals. His senior season was one of the most prolific in La Salle' history, including 14 goals (sixth-most in a single season) and 30 points (seventh-most). He was also named NSCAA All-America First Team and All-Region First Team as well as Atlantic 10 Player of the Year.
