NEWARK, Del. - The La Salle lacrosse team returns to action as they head to Newark to take on the Delaware Blue Hens with opening draw scheduled for 6 p.m.

Last Time vs. Blue HensLa Salle fell to Delaware last season at McCarthy Stadium by a final score of 24-6.
Allee Ilgenfritz scored a hat trick on the day to lead the Explorers while
Brittany Edwards and
Katie Fonte also scored in the previous meeting. All-time the Blue Hens hold a narrow 3-2 advantage over the Explorers and the pair have split two previous meetings at Delaware.
Scouting the ExplorersSophomore
Lucy Loughlin made nine saves in her first collegiate start. Her nine saves per game currently is second best in the conference and she owns a .409 save percentage on the season after one game.
Sophomore Kailey Leister currently ranks tied for fourth in the conference after scooping up three ground balls against Temple. Senior Kate Fay scored both of La Salle's goals against the Owls to open the season. Three Explorers made their first career starts against Temple to open the season. Sophomore Lucy Loughlin, junior Courtney Woolford, and sophomore Brittany Edwards all started for the first time in their careers. In addition four other starters for the Explorers made the start with less than ten prior starts in their careers. Three freshman took to the field against Temple for their first career action.
Renee Olivett,
Isabel Caddick, and
Ashley Blanton all saw the field in the first game of their freshman campaigns. Olivett scooped up a ground ball while Blanton had a ground ball, draw control, and caused turnover on the day.
Scouting the Blue HensDelaware enters the contest coming off its first loss of the season, dropping a 12-10 decision at No. 13-14 Penn on Saturday. Prior to that, the Blue Hens had started the season off with a pair of wins at Georgetown as well as a home victory over George Washington. Delaware is coming off a season where they went 11-7 and 4-2 in the CAA and advanced to the CAA Conference Semifinals before falling to eventual conference champ, James Madison.
Three Blue Hens have more than five goals on the season with junior Kristen Hale having tallied six and senior Casey Lyons and junior Jamie Schwartz each tied for the team-lead with seven goals on the season. Lyons leads the team with 12 points thanks to five assists and is shooting .583 on the year. Hale leads the team having converted on six of her eight shots on the year for a .750 shooting percentage.
Taylor Carpentier has started a pair of games this season and appeared in all three games in the goal for the Blue Hens. Â Carpentier has made 16 saves on the season with a save percentage of .421.Junior Mary Abram leads the team with five caused turnovers on the season while sophomore Becky Gohsler is averaging 2.33 draw controls per contest.
