PHILADELPHIA- The La Salle women's lacrosse team opens up its conference schedule with swing south this weekend as it heads to Davidson on Friday and VCU on Sunday.

Sophomore goalie Lucy Loughlin was named A-10 Defensive Player of the Week following a nine save performance against LIU Brooklyn. Loughlin had a save percentage of .529 on the day and made six second half saves helping La Salle pull away and outscore the Blackbirds 9-4 in the second half.
Senior Katelyn Fay ranks fifth in the conference as she is averaging 2.57 goals per contest. Junior Allee Ilgenfritz is close behind in eighth with 2.29 per game. Ilgenfritz has 12 goals in the past three contests.Loughlin is tied for third in the A-10 averaging 6.57 saves per contest on the year.
Sophomore
Brittany Edwards also has double-digit goals on the season having tallied 11 goals on the year to go with three assists. Edward exploded with five goals against Robert Morris and has also tallied a pair of goals against each of UMBC, Sacred Heart, and LIU Brooklyn.
Senior
Allie Burnett leads the team with nine caused turnovers on the season.
Anna Kelly is close behind with eight of her own on the year.
La Salle-Davidson HistoryThis is the third ever meeting between the two programs with La Salle having grabbed wins in the previous two games. The first ever meeting in 2011 La Salle grabbed a 14-12 win on the road while the Explorers grabbed a narrow 8-7 win at McCarthy last season in the first ever conference matchup between the two.
Katelyn Fay scored a pair of goals and added an assist in the win while
Anna Kelly and
Katie Fonte both had assists as well.
Scouting the WildcatsDavidson enters the weekend coming off two straight losses to Lehigh (5-7) and Elon (6-12). The Wildcats have also dropped decisions to Virginia Tech (8-9) and Winthrop (5-8) while grabbing wins over Kennesaw State (19-6), Holy Cross (8-7), and High Point (12-7)
The Wildcats have taken care of the ball so far this season ranking second in the Atlantic 10 for fewest turnovers per game at 14.43. They have also been stingy on defense, limiting opponents to only an average of 8.00 goals per game against them.
Emma Sissman leads the team with 16 goals on the season averaging 2.29 per contest. Rose Woolson leads the A-10 with an average of 2.67 ground balls scooped up per contest.
Dana Stasieluk leads the conference with a stingy .545 save percentage on the season. She has only allowed 10 goals while making 12 saves. Starter Rose Woolson ranks fourth with a .477 save percentage and 42 saves on the season averaging 7.00 per season.
Scouting the RamsVCU have started off its inaugural season with a 2-6 recording grabbing wins over Gardner-Webb (21-9), in its first ever game, and to Campbell (21-13). The Rams have fallen to UMBC (5-20), Liberty (9-19), Winthrop (7-19), Detroit (10-12), Central Michigan (5-6), and old Dominion (2-19). The Rams have dropped three straight heading into conference play and open the conference slate at Richmond on Friday.
The Rams have a young roster with 16 true freshmen, six redshirt freshmen, and one senior making up the first year squad's roster. Bonnie Corrigan is the sole player on the roster with prior college lacrosse experience having played three seasons at Presbyterian before transferring to VCU for her senior season.
VCU have taken the most out of their shots this season, ranking second in the conference with a .503 shooting percentage on the season. The Rams however rank last with 18.75 turnovers per game for the young team and have allowed a league high 14.63 goals per contest.
Molly Barcikowski ranks second in the A-10 averaging 4.38 points per game and 2.12 assists per game. Sky Hyatt also is in the top ten in points at 3.12 per contest. Hyatt is tied for the league lead in caused turnover as she averages 1.50 per contest. The pair is tied for a team-high 18 goals on the season. Mackenzie Galli and Sofia Emond have nine goals apiece to aid in the offensive effort.
Ria Peralta has started all eight games for the Rams in goal. She has made 45 saves on the season averaging 5.62 saves per contest.
Next UpLa Salle returns home for the first time in conference play as it welcomes St. Bonaventure and Saint Joseph's to McCarthy Stadium next weekend.
