Jen Zenszer

Women's Basketball | July 25, 2016

Next in a series of La Salle alumni-athletes. If you have an alumni-athlete to be featured, please contact Associate AD, Kevin Bonner, at bonner@lasalle.edu.

Jen Zenszer '01 was an Academic All-American and four-year starter for the women's basketball program from 1997-01. A member of the La Salle Hall of Athletes and the Big 5 Hall of Fame, Zenszer earned All-Big 5 honors four times and was All-Atlantic 10 in 1999. She scored 1,290 career points, which ranks 12th on the all-time scoring list. An accounting major at La Salle, she is currently an FBI Agent assigned to the Philadelphia Division. She started with the FBI as an investigative specialist then went to Quantico as a special agent in 2004.

What brought you to La Salle?

It was a combination of the women's basketball program/athletic program offered along with the honors program and strong academics offered at La Salle.  Additionally, the strong Catholic tradition, family-like atmosphere and values taught by the Christian Brothers were also very important aspects in my decision to attend La Salle University.

What was your proudest La Salle memory?

Defeating St. Joe's at SJU to win the Big 5 Basketball Championship in 1998, being selected as a 3rd team Academic All-American in 2001, graduating Maxima Cum Laude from the Honors Program, being inducted into the La Salle Hall of Athletes and the Big 5 Hall of Fame and most especially making some of the best memories and friendships at La Salle of my entire life.

How did the Lasallian education help you in your career?

Some of the technical aspects of my accounting classes and background help me on a daily basis in my current career investigating white collar crime.  The time management skills and learning how to balance the rigors of playing a Division I college sport with the academic demands at La Salle have proven invaluable in my career to date.

What has been the proudest moment of your professional career?

The proudest moment of my professional career to date is the ability to balance the demands of my job and my most important job in life of being of mother to my three young daughters on a daily basis. I enjoy the challenge and I reflect, often, on the lessons I learned at La Salle about how to multi-task and focus in order to get tasks done in an efficient and effective manner.

What advice would you give current student-athletes?

Embrace and be thankful for every opportunity you are offered at La Salle, take advantage of every opportunity you have to learn and grow as a young adult, never be afraid to challenge yourself and find what you love and go do it!
