NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The La Salle men's cross country team has been picked to finish third in the Atlantic 10, the league announced on Tuesday. The poll was conducted amongst the league's 14 head coaches.
"Every coach in the conference knows that the only ranking that matters is where you finish on October 29
th," said head coach
Tom Peterson. "Both teams have worked very hard this summer and have very distinct goals for this season. They will be ready to challenge the rest of the conference on October 29
th."
The men finished fourth last season at the A-10 Championships with 106 team points, just eight points behind Massachusetts in second place (98 points). Returners
Francis Ferruzzi and
Bradley Heuer finished in seventh and eighth, respectively, to earn All-Conference honors at last year's meet.
The Explorers were also picked to finish 8
th in the Mid-Atlantic Region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The Explorers open the season on September 9 at the Friends Big 5 Invitational at Belmont Plateau. This year's Atlantic 10 Championship is scheduled for October 29 in Richmond, Va.
