FULL RESULTS
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.- The women's track and field team traveled to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Center on Friday for the second consecutive weekend to compete in the 2017 Gotham Cup.
A pair of sprinters kicked off the day in the 60m hurdles race. Senior
Mone't Gist and freshman
Shelby Francis finished eighth and 11
th respectively in the field of 45 runners. Gist went sprinted a 9.08 time, while Francis finished with a personal best of 9.24.
Four Explorers participated in the 400m event, with junior
Amber Jenkins running a 59.65 to place 10
th overall in the highly competitive field of 87. Freshman
Desirae Osley posted a time of 1:00.62 to place 32
nd overall, while classmate Francis finished in 1:02.45. Sprinting a 1:06.73 time,
Corrine Davis rounded out the Explorers performance with a new career best.
Senior
Madison Elliott was the sole representative for La Salle in the one mile competition, to finish 33
rd in a time of 6:00.96.
Morgan Szekely finished sixth overall in the 1000m run, crossing the line in a personal best of 2:56.07. Freshman
Grace Mancini finished 11
th over 26 runners with a new season best of 3:03.43.
Kaleah Miller leapt a distance of 10.88m in the triple jump to finish 13
th overall as the only Explorer in the field of 37.
Miller also earned a 10
th place finish when she jumped a distance of 5.40m in the long jump. Freshman
Jessica Bryant followed with an 18
th place finish among 51 competitors when she leapt 5.10m.
Led by
Sara Dever, who ran a 2:28.37 to place 24
th overall, three Explorers competed in the 800m event. Freshmen
Devon Barr (2:29.59, 29
th place) and
Capri Laurence (2:40.70, 47
th place) also appeared in the race.
Gist was the only Explorers to race in the 200m dash, finishing with a time of 26.62 over 34 other runners to round out the day.
La Salle will head back to the track on Friday, Jan.27 to compete in the Penn State Invitational. Additionally, the Explorers will compete at the Covert Classic on Saturday, Jan. 28 to finish up the weekend.
