Men's Swimming and Diving | January 21, 2017
PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle Men's Swimming and Diving team completed an Atlantic 10 meet with Fordham, 212-86, on Saturday at Kirk Pool. Prior to the event, the team congratulated its seniors on an impressive tenure at the school.
"It was a great day in and out of the pool," said Head Coach
Jamie Platt. "We celebrated our graduating seniors before teh meet and we had a great group of alumni come back to support the teams. The teams keep setting themselves up for the Atlantic 10 Championships."
The 200 medley relay team that included seniors
Cameron Fadley and Sam Odtallah in addition to freshman
Marcus Forsgren and junior
Fabian Bergman began the day with a first place finish (1:34.53). Forsgren later finished first in the 200 IM (1:55.61). Odtallah was also joined by classmate
Jerry Gravel along with Bergman and
Aleksandar Nikolic in a first place finish in the 400 free relay (3:08.06). Odtallah later placed first in the 50 yard freestyle (21.52 seconds) complimented by second place senior
Strahinja Stankovic.
Mattias Glenesk dominated the 1000 free. The seniors' official time of 9:35.15 was over 10 seconds quicker than the second place finishers.
The aforementioned
Fabian Bergman topped the 100 and 200 back. His time of 50.32 seconds in the 100 was two seconds faster than second place. The second through fifth place finishers all clocked in within a half second of each other. In the 200, he clocked in at 1:51.10 for the top time.
A trio of Explorers led the 100 breast, capped off by
Dimitrije Mladenovic's first place finish. The junior's final time was 58.39 seconds. Chrisoff Ras and Josh Williams finished second and third respectively. Ras would later finish first in the 200 breast (2:06.74).Â
Junior
Jakub Bartosiewicz impressively topped the competition in the 200 fly (1:53.69) and, later, the 100 fly (50.46 seconds).
La Salle swept the diving events. In the 1 meter dive,
Dylan Yurasits posted and impressive score of 320.35. Freshman
Blake Griffith and senior
Chase Ott finished second and third. In the 3 meter dive, Griffith's score of 259.50 was good for first place.Â
As the regular season begins to wind down, La Salle will host one more weekend of swimming as Mount St. Mary's visits on Friday, January 27 followed by Rowan the following day. Meanwhile, diving coach
Steve Kuttruff and his team will head to Penn State for the Zone A Diving Invitational over the weekend.
