Box Score FAIRFAX, Va. – The La Salle women's soccer team scored twice in the second half, including the game-tying goal with 50 seconds left in regulation, to earn a 2-2 draw at George Mason on Thursday night at George Mason Stadium. With the draw, the Explorers clinch the top seed in the A-10 Championship and at least a share of the A-10 regular season title.
Danielle Marx scored the game tying goal at the 89:10 mark in the second half, sending the ball in from 15 yards out for her sixth goal of the season.
Kristin Haugstad and
Chloe Lewis put shots on goal in the second overtime period but George Mason keeper Louisa Moser made both saves to keep the game tied.
The Patriots took a 1-0 lead on a Daniela Neves goal in the 42
nd minute before
Madison Bower tied it at 1-1 with her ninth goal of the year in the 52
nd minute. Marx tallied her seventh assist of the year on the play. GMU wasted no time regaining the lead, going in front 2-1 on Jisca Adigo's goal at the 52:47 mark.
La Salle fired a season-high 25 shots in the game, including nine that landed on goal. Moser made seven saves while La Salle keeper
Larisa Zambelli registered four saves against 18 shots faced (six on goal).
Haugstad had a game-high 10 shots, including four shots on goal on the night. Mason earned a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks.
The Explorers extended their A-10 unbeaten streak to nine games with the draw, and will host VCU on Sunday for Senior Day at McCarthy Stadium. The Explorers will honor
