La Salle Squares Off with Duquesne in A-10 Semifinal Friday

RICHMOND, Va. – The top-seeded La Salle women's soccer team will take on No. 4 Duquesne on Friday afternoon in the Atlantic 10 Championship semifinal at 2 p.m. at Sports Backer Stadium.
 
 Scouting the Explorers
-La Salle advanced to the semifinal round with a 3-2 win over Dayton in the quarterfinal at McCarthy Stadium on Saturday. Jess Shanahan scored the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute.
 
-Maci Bower assisted Shanahan's game-winner after getting the Explorers on the board with a goal in the 3rd minute. Kristin Haugstad was responsible for the Explorers second goal thanks to an assist from Madison Bower.
 
-The Explorers are playing in an A-10 semifinal for the seventh time in eight years.
 
-La Salle cleaned up in the postseason A-10 honors announcement on Wednesday, taking home a total of eight awards. Head coach Paul Royal earned his fourth A-10 Coach of the Year award while Madison Bower, Kristin Haugstad and Paige McDowell earned First Team honors.
 
-Maci Bower and Taylor Newhart were tabbed Second Team while freshmen Amirah Louketis and Jenna Soriano garnered All-Rookie recognition.

Scouting the Dukes

-Duquesne beat No. 5 George Washington 1-0 in double overtime on Saturday to advance to the A-10 semifinal for the second time in three seasons.
 
-The Dukes scored in the 105th minute of the A-10 quarterfinal to top the Colonials. Linnea Faccenda scored the game-winner for the Dukes.
 
-Faccenda was named the league's Midfielder of the Year on Wednesday while four other Dukes were honored. Katie O'Connor and Casey Aunkst joined Faccenda on the First Team while Lauren Bell was named All-Rookie and Veronique Dagenais was All-Academic.
 
-With Saturday's win, head coach Al Alvine became the all-time winningest coach in program history with 51 wins and Kyra Murphy became the all-time winningest keeper with 30 victories.
